Having renovated, designed and decorated
21 homes from Victoria to Queensland and
built from scratch 3 times, Judy Lucy's
depth of knowledge, artistic flair and
experience of quintessential eras of home
decor (from American colonial, 1967, to
minimalist style, 1992, to present), has left
an incredible stamp of style.
o create this lounge room (left) Judy, used
paint ? Taubman?s ?Silver magic? (which
she physically painted), reupholstered the
chairs- (previously in black and tan stripe)
in suede/charcoal with similar colour for the
couches. The carpet is ?sisal look? charcoal
and ribbed. The white blinds are fabric
Venetians in a much chunkier version and a
realistic price- to create a clean finish.
Accessories include a cabinet that was originally
dark wood which ?may have intruded on the
space? says Judy, so by lime washing it with
similar paint colour to the walls she created an
integral piece. Accented by rich reds in rugs,
scatter cushions, oriental pieces and China, Judy
has created a simply stunning room.
Her only addition to this room in the not too
distant future will be a decoupage fire screen,
another project in the making.
Judy tends to stay with timeless luxurious
furnishing in black, browns and whites and
changes accent colours in the form of rugs,
cushions (which are normally hand sewn and
created by Judy) and artwork. International
furnishings, upmarket select pieces, oriental and
antique furniture complete the room to ?give it
more soul? says Judy.
When trying to source bedroom furnishings with
very little result 28 years ago, Judy created a niche
market - a comprehensive bedroom creation -
including doona covers (very new to the industry)
but complemented this with cushions, lamps,
rugs, curtains, etc - creating a total package.
Judy?s interior design stores became an icon
of the bay side suburbs of Melbourne. Latter
years have allowed Judy to become a developer
of her own projects, transforming the very ordinary
into ?extraordinary?.
